Academia is a key influencer in shaping the destiny of a society or a nation. Examples from the past to the present highlights that societies which mastered technologies developed into great cultural and militarily advanced civilizations.
There are numerous institutions and universities in the world like Taxila, Patilputra, MIT, Cambridge, Standford, Oxford, etc. which have shaped the destiny of nations where they are located.
India though has made great strides in technology but, couldn’t advance rapidly into defence technology area resulting into becoming a big importer of defence equipments. The country has realized this shortcoming and intends to address it immediately. Various schemes and programmes have been launched towards this goal.
TDF Scheme is one of them. In this Scheme the academia can participate at all levels i.e. from identifying the technology gap to building the required technology.
An active support from the academic circles is expected where in the talent is generated at all levels; so that newer and better technologies are created through R&D and technological innovations and skilled manpower is made available to our Industries to manufacture these products.
